Make your own bow under the guidance of an experienced professional bowyer- Hilary has run these workshops since 1993, so hopefully you will learn enough to take away a bow you will be proud of!
Some bowmaking workshops present you with a laminated stave and charge you considerably more just to finish it. On this course you will learn the principles of bow design and bowmaking from stave to finish, including stringmaking, and advice about what finishes to use, steaming, backings and more -whatever your archery interest.
Using carefully selected seasoned whitewood staves you will learn how to work with the wood, considering what 'self' flatbow design is suitable for each particular stave. You will learn 'hands on' how to work to growth rings, allow for grain direction and how to tiller the bow (tiller provided).
The workshop is designed to help give you confidence to make bows of many different types. PLEASE NOTE: IT IS NOT SPECIFICALLY A LONGBOW MAKING WORKSHOP
COST: £210 PER HEAD (£100 deposit required)
Location: North Somerset. The number of participants is limited to 4.
