HOLMEGAARD STYLE |
One of the oldest European bow designs; there are several examples of this Danish 'primitive' bow, dating from 9,000 years ago. The example shown on the left is a 'self' bow made from English Elm, taking the principles of the design to extremes -a 'neo-Holmegaard', maybe! In the picture on the right the Holmegaard's strung profile is shown alongside an osage 'self' flatbow. As a design it has excellent shooting qualities with the benefits of a flatbow section near the grip, and a slimmer, longbow style section at the outer limb. Depending on available woods, this bow can be made from laminated hickory/lemonwood, ash, hickory or maple. Elm is occasionally available. PRICES FROM £340 |
