BAMBOO |
Bamboo has been used for centuries in the manufacture of bows, most notably in the cores of some Asian composite bows, and the uniquely beautiful 'yumi' of Japan. Sylvan Archery has been using bamboo for some years, initially to overcome some temporary problems with the quality of available hickory, but increasingly through a respect for the material. While hickory & maple are used as backings to Sylvan bows, bamboo has become the favourite material. The best quality bamboo is split from poles which are selected for the purpose. The nodes on Sylvan bows are usually left proud to enhance the character of this fine bow material. |
