One of the oldest European bow designs; there are several examples of this Danish 'primitive' bow, dating from 9,000 years ago.
The example shown on the left is a 'self' bow made from English Elm. The principles of the design are taken to extremes with limbs greatly reduced in width towards the nocks in the Mollegabet bow of a similar date, which I am shown shooting bottom right.
As a design it has excellent shooting qualities with the benefits of a flatbow section near the grip, and a slimmer, longbow style section at the outer limb.
Depending on available woods, this bow can be made from laminated hickory/lemonwood, 'self' ash, hickory or maple. Elm is occasionally available.
