There are a number of specifications for 'historic' styles of arrow for competitive shooting

The longest established is the 'Standard Arrow' which was originally introduced by the British Long-Bow Society and requires 6 inch fletch. min 1/2 in high, approx 2in long horn insert. Bodkin or type 16 (small broadhead) and total weight of 52 grammes.

The later 'Livery Arrow', introduced by the English War Bow Society is based on the larger arrows found on the 'Mary Rose' is similar to the Standard arrow but with a total weight of 63.5 grammes. See the EWBS website for full specs.

Ash or poplar shafts are usually used -Sylvan archery can provide these arrows made up, or suitably barrelled shafts. See also 'Historic arrows' for prices and more info
